The Purlin Mill located in Hubbard, Oregon is the only manufacturer of purlins and girts specializing in the pre-engineered steel building market in Oregon.
After experiencing decades of quality and service issues from other vendors, the current owners dreamed to someday start their own purlin manufacturing facility; a business incomparable to the vendors of the past, employing people of integrity who actually care for the customer and take pride in the quality and service they provide.
The owners’ dreams finally came true in January 2008 when The Purlin Mill opened its doors for business in a brand new 17,000 square foot manufacturing facility with a small team of exceptional people who are still with us today and a new automated roll former capable of manufacturing multiple profiles with fast changeovers.
Shortly after opening, The Purlin Mill purchased another new roll form machine to manufacture our own Architectural Standing Seam Roofing (SSR-18), a mechanically seamed structural panel with injected butyl mastic.
In 2020 The Purlin Mill purchased a brand new, state-of-the-art, custom built Jorns Heavy Gauge Double Folding Machine. This machine is capable of bending 30 gauge to 11 gauge steel thickness and up to 40 foot lengths. Our Jorns Heavy Gauge Double Folding Machine is the first 40’ double folding machine with these capabilities in North America!
In May 2021 the new folding machine had arrived. After installation and months of training, The Purlin Mill was ready to start manufacturing products. This machine can make round bends, tapered bends, open and closed hems and slit to width. It also bends Stainless Steel, Aluminum, and Copper up to 40’ lengths. The Purlin Mill now has exclusive bending capabilities in North America to share with our customers.
During the same time in 2020 The Purlin Mill also purchased a new Cut-to-Length Line with a built-in Sheet Slitter. This new Cut-to-Length Line has a 20,000 lb. coil capacity, 49” maximum width, and 16 gauge maximum thickness. This machine gives us the capability to cut flat sheet for the Folding Machine production, to provide cut-to-length flat sheet, and to slit flat sheets for customers.
Located in the Pacific Northwest, The Purlin Mill takes extra precautions to protect our steel products from corrosion. Our steel is hot dipped galvanized to a G-90 classification to ensure the longevity of our product. This is a heavier galvanized coating than many other manufacturers.
